Up Close and Personal with Sargent

New Yorkers and visitors to The Metropolitan Museum of Art were treated to Sargent: Portraits of Artists and Friends during Summer and Fall of 2015. Amongst the portraits of artists, writers, actors, friends and patrons were Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, Robert Louis Stevenson and Henry James. Such a fine collection induced me to see the show twice. During my second visit which was a members only event with fewer visitors, I was able to get close to the paintings and really see the Sargent's brushwork. He made it look so easy!
